It rained yesterday. Real rain. The kind of rain California hasn’t seen in a while.
I was sleepy, in the drive-thru at Starbucks. I was on my way to work, waiting. With the rain on my windshield, the clock on my mind, I looked in my driver’s side mirror, and saw . . .
Rrrain!! He was so excited. He quivered from head to toe. His snow-colored fur blew every which way, and his head darted eagerly with each gust. His eyes sparkled and his nose wiggled. He reminded me of a child first tasting ice cream.
He was in the moment, and I loved him for it.
Awesome Jess. It sure was nice to see some much needed rain here. Here is to it continuing. Preferably while I am sleeping or working, but I think we will all take what we can get whenever we can get it at this point. Hope you are well. Smiles to you.
Smiles to you, too, John! I’m loving these recent storms. Hope you are, too.
Most definitely.
Yep, we so need the rain. And I so need to run in that rain.
I love running in the rain, Mark! Unfortunately I haven’t done much recently. Been spending more time at the gym. But I’d rather be outside!
And with all of this rain we’re having lately, I have yet to have the opportunity to run when it is actually raining.
With this upcoming El Nino winter…you might see a lot more!
Crossing my fingers! We’ve certainly gotten a lot of rain recently, Steve, so things appear to be off to a good start.
I have so many friends out west and it is scary how many wildfires pop up out there. I realize that in nature, this is natural but with so many people being careless, the problem is greatly compounded.
Well, I hope you have a great Christmas and I will be looking forward to reading your future posts.
Great capture Jess. I love the way some dogs just accept rain. Ours loves being out in it and walking in it.
Animals are awesome. Especially when I’m not the one taking care of them, lol. But yes! It’s fun to see them enjoying the weather. What kind of dog do you have, Dan?
We have an Irish Setter (female)
California rain. A good reason to wag tails.
Very true, Bruce! Dog tails must be wagging everywhere with this recent storm!
Oh lol we’ve had nothing but rrrrain for days here, and howling winds, love the doggie what a sweety 😊
We’re finally getting more rain, Fraggle! For us, it’s a good thing. Hope you’ve gotten a break, though. If you don’t need the rain, it’s harder to rejoice in! And the doggie is a sweetie, isn’t he?
Great picture – perfect word picture. “In the moment” is the essence. Thanks for sharing this Jessica.
Thanks for reading and commenting, Dad! Love ya!
Love this observation. I especially love that you made it while in the line at Starbucks, on your way to work with the clock on your mind, rather than on a leisurely stroll. It makes me realize how much I miss in everyday life when I’m preoccupied with being in a hurry!
My point exactly, Amy! I don’t stop to just take in my surroundings often enough. It’s something I’m trying to work on. Thank you for your comment, and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to respond!!
congrats on finally get rain! i know how california really needs it and more.
Thank you! We’re getting some pretty good storms this week, so hopefully they help. It’ll take a lot of water to recover from the drought, though… Hope you’ve been well! Happy Holidays!
We need it here as well, lucky you! Merry Christmas from Barcelona.
Merry Christmas to you, as well! Thanks for stopping by, and please forgive me terribly tardy reply!
