rrrain!!

It rained yesterday. Real rain. The kind of rain California hasn’t seen in a while.

I was sleepy, in the drive-thru at Starbucks. I was on my way to work, waiting. With the rain on my windshield, the clock on my mind, I looked in my driver’s side mirror, and saw . . .

Rrrain!! He was so excited. He quivered from head to toe. His snow-colored fur blew every which way, and his head darted eagerly with each gust. His eyes sparkled and his nose wiggled. He reminded me of a child first tasting ice cream.

He was in the moment, and I loved him for it.

  1. Awesome Jess. It sure was nice to see some much needed rain here. Here is to it continuing. Preferably while I am sleeping or working, but I think we will all take what we can get whenever we can get it at this point. Hope you are well. Smiles to you.

      • I have so many friends out west and it is scary how many wildfires pop up out there. I realize that in nature, this is natural but with so many people being careless, the problem is greatly compounded.

Well, I hope you have a great Christmas and I will be looking forward to reading your future posts.

    • We’re finally getting more rain, Fraggle! For us, it’s a good thing. Hope you’ve gotten a break, though. If you don’t need the rain, it’s harder to rejoice in! And the doggie is a sweetie, isn’t he?

  2. Love this observation. I especially love that you made it while in the line at Starbucks, on your way to work with the clock on your mind, rather than on a leisurely stroll. It makes me realize how much I miss in everyday life when I’m preoccupied with being in a hurry!

    • My point exactly, Amy! I don’t stop to just take in my surroundings often enough. It’s something I’m trying to work on. Thank you for your comment, and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to respond!!

    • Thank you! We’re getting some pretty good storms this week, so hopefully they help. It’ll take a lot of water to recover from the drought, though… Hope you’ve been well! Happy Holidays!
